Friday Foto Claudia Sampedro

Friday Foto time and I ran across a picture of Claudia Sampedro and I find out that she's dating Reggie Bush. That's OK, of course. Reggie or no Reggie, she is definate Friday Foto material. It's actually good that quality babes like Claudia should seek out guys who can earn a good paycheck. This is not often the case...but I digress.

Claudia is a singer, actress and model.,  Sharing some time with Reggie Bush could only help her career.   But, I should point out that love is a beautiful thing..........

 Are you still reading?

Claudia was born in Cuba.  Her parents were from Columbia.

I  feel that I should add enough text so that I can surround this post with enough words to cover two pictures of this incredible lady.

As usual, click the images to get the full effect and have a great weekend!

Exploding Toilet Injures Airman

This is serious and it really happened! In Australia, American and Aussie forces were conducting military exercises at Rockhampton Airport in Queensland, Monday, when an Australian Airman paused to use a port-a-potty - similar to the one pictured on the right. As he is doing his business, speculation is that, he lit a cigarette. Military spokesmen are not saying that it was a methane explosion or not. They are also not identifying the airman. We do know that there was an explosion and that he was admitted to a local hospital in serious condition with 3rd degree burns to portions of his head, face, arms, chest and airways.

The military spokesman said, "I can confirm that an incident has happened but we're still gathering information."

Still gathering the information? Must have been one hell of an explosion!

America's Got Talent?

I have been watching America's Got Talent this season and every season since the show first aired. (Remember Regis as MC?)

What's happened to the talent? The show has always had a wide variety of acts, but somewhere in the mix, there used to be an act with some relevant talent. Not this year. It seems like they are "Jerry Springerizing" the show....wall to wall.

Enough with the freaks! And the judges?  All three seem to be "going through the motions."  They seem to want to be somewhere else.

This is not a threat, AGT, but my wife DVRs "The Talk" and "Judge Jeannine" on a daily basis.
Do you see where I'm going with this?

Tipsy Mailman Hoards Mail

In England, just north of Manchester, there's a mailman who "failed to deliver" for more than three years. Apparently, Steve Tasker, a veteran mail carrier, went through a phase where he would pick up mail at the post office and then go drinking! Steve says that he always intended to deliver the mail when he sobered up...that's why he stashed more than 31,000 pieces of mail at his house.

Some people complained that they were not receiving their mail. The 43 yeas old Tasker was put under surveillance. One day, they saw him start work around noon and knock off at 2 p.m. with more than 300 pieces of mail undelivered.

Tasker was sentenced to 32 weeks in jail, suspended for a year. He was also ordered to get alcohol treatment and enter a program that teaches people life skills like problem solving.

My question is, what would he need to do to actually get fired...you know, like  we would, in the real world, if we got caught doing what he did?

Historic Day To Be Gay

AFP/Getty Images

Today is the first day for legal same sex marriages in New York State.

The first couple to "make it legal" in New York City were 77 year old Phyllis Siegel (standing) and Connie Kopelov, 85 (seated). The two brides had been together for the past 23 years and are from the Chelsea neighborhood of lower Manhattan.

Same sex couples from all over the country traveled to New York to tie the knot.  Watching the TV reports, it was clear to see the joy in the faces of each of the newlyweds.

We, at the blog, wish those involved all the happiness that comes with the married life!

6 Year Old Drills A Hole In One

This is just another reason to give up on the game of golf!

Earlier this month, six year old Reagan Kennedy was playing the third hole at The Links at Ireland Grove, near Bloomington, Illinois, and her tee shot traveled 84 yards, landing in the cup! She was using a 4-hybrid (whatever that is...)

Reagan starts first grade in the fall. Like many Illinois girls, Reagan was given a golf club at age 2. She says that she would like to turn pro, but she really would like to beat her daddy.

Vincent Musetto Retires

Vincent Musetto is retiring. We will miss him! Of course, for this to make any sense at all, you must know who this man is!

Most recently, Musetto was an entertainment critic at the New York Post. Prior to that, he ran the newsroom. New York tabloids (The News and The Post) are famous for their witty headlines.

It was Musetto who penned the famous 1983 headline: "HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR." This is regarded as a classic!

As we wish Mr. Musetto a happy retirement, we are thankful for his contributions to the unique art form of headline writing.

Amy Winehouse Found Dead

Amy Winehouse

You may have seen this coming. I must admit that the news came to me with little surprise.   Amy Winehouse was found dead, in her house, this weekend.

Everyone seems to be hailing her as a rare talent. This is probably true. Also true (and sad) is the apparent fact that all of her fame and fortune didn't seem to bring her much happiness. She will be remembered for her music. We will likely hear more of her music now that she is no longer with us, That's what happened with Jimi Hendricks, Jim Croce and Janis Joplin, just to name a few.

Also, it has been noted that other notable singers who, troubled with addiction, went on to "meet their maker" at the age of 27.  Those would include Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.

Friday Foto - Anyssa

This week's Friday Foto is a little different. She is known as Anyssa. That's it! No last name is necessary, you know, like Cher or Fabian... (Fabian?  Yeah, I'm old!)  I suppose she could have "made up" a last name.
The fine folks at "Sports by Brooks" are responsible for her web pressence and popularity. I decided to display two pictures of Anyssa...mainly becuse I felt like it!

Shuttle Program Ends

Shuttle's Swan Song

The NASA Space Shuttle Program ended this morning. Atlantis landed at Cape Canaveral. You might say that the Shuttle Program faded into the sunset at sunrise.

The program was expensive, but it was important in satisfying our human need to explore. It also provided products for our everyday use...solar power stuff, etc.

Thousands of our brightest scientists are jobless. Some will retire, others will find other jobs within the scientific community, some will go into teaching or consulting.

It's sad to think that the 47%+ of us who pay no Federal Income Tax will visit museums to see what we were once able to accomplish.

Bill Gates' New Project

Bill Gates

The man who is largely responsible for making personal computers available and often usable by us little people, is branching out. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has devoted $42 million dollars to develop an affordable toilet to be used by the 2.6 billion people in the world who don't have access to one.

When you think about it, this is actually a major health concern. In a world where we can easily see naked pictures of Paris Hilton, 70% of Earthlings don't have a suitable place to take a dump!

We at the blog are 100% behind Mr. & Mrs. Gates noble undertaking. Who knows? In the near future, we may be referring to a trip to the toilet as "Taking A Gates?"

Tiger Fires His Caddie

Williams & Woods

These two guys have been together for 12 years, 250 tournaments with 72 wins. It ended today. Tiger Woods fired his caddie Steve Williams, saying that it was "time for a change."

We should point out that Tiger hasn't been in a tournament for two months. He claims to have minor injuries to his left leg.

A caddie's income is based on his boss' income. There's no income for either when there's no golfing going on!

For the past three tournaments, Williams has been "carrying the clubs" for Adam Scott.

In the past, Williams has worked for Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd.

Meanwhile, Woods ranking has fallen to #20. I think what we are seeing is typical behavior of a "tiger" which is no longer hungry.

McDonald's 1955 Menu

McDonalds actually began on May 15, 1940 in San Bernardino, California. Richard and Maurice McDonald started it all. Ray Kroc bought the restaurant, in 1955, and turned it into the world's largest hamburger restaurant chain.

This picture is believed to represent McDonald's 1955 menu. Things were simpler (and cheaper) back in the '50's.

Bronx Cheer For Jeter

Captain Classless

Derek Jeter, based on his team contributions, is probably the best shortstop in Yankee history. You've gotta wonder where his head is at. He's batting .268 this season. He was selected to the American League All Star team. He didn't show up, saying that he was too tired after scoring his 3,000th hit. The AL probably could have used him, since they lost.

Here's where the Bronx Cheer for Jeter comes in. Jeter has a provision in his contract with the Yankes that he receives an extra $500,000 bonus if he is selected to the American League All Star Team. So, he gets the bonus and blows off the fans and the league by not showing up in Phoenix.

I've got news for you Derek, I'm tired, too. I work 60+ hours a week and I don't feel comfortable spending my salary on a Yankees ticket...And I don't get to take off for the winter!

Ivanka Becomes A Mommy

Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner welcomed a wealthy...I mean healthy daughter into the world, today. No name has been announced - no surprise as Jewish tradition usually delays the naming process.

This would be The Donald's third grandchild. Mother & baby are doing well.

The daddy, Jared Kushner is the owner of the New York Observer newspaper. He and Trump wed in 2009. This is their first child.

Gov. Rod's House: For $ale

He hasn't been sentenced yet, but after being convicted of 17 counts, Governor Blagojevich is sure to be making a change of address. He could get up to 300 years. Ten years is expected, but first they need to decide on a sentencing date.

In the meantime, his house is "on the market." How much? Well, in 1999, they paid $505,000 for the home, at the corner of Sunnyside and Richmond in the Ravenswood Manor section of northwest Chicago. In 11 years, the real estate market has gone up and down (a few times). There is no "asking price", but I hear that Jesse Jackson, Jr. is interested...

QVC Bumps Hanoi Jane

"Hanoi Jane" Fonda

Jane Fonda was scheduled to appear today on QVC to "introduce" her new book. A flood of complaints forced QVC to make a "scheduling change." Fonda's book plugging was dumped. The washed up actress was pissed.

Obviously she underestimates the memory of the American public.  Four decades have passed since she posed for pictures with the North Vietnamese military. The adjoining picture shows Lady Jane laughing it up with the enemy at an anti aircraft gun. This would be only a few hundred yards from the Hanoi Hilton where American POWs were being tortured. For those of you who may not remember or who were not yet born, Fonda's actions and words were hurtful to the American war effort. They enabled strategies to change and for American lives to be lost. Public opinion of the Vietnam war effort was divided further by Fonda.

Unlike today, being a member of the American Military was not necessarily a respected image. You can compound the soldiers' misery when you consider that many of us were drafted.

Her actions were that of a traitor. You see, even back then, pretty white American girls were able to get away with anything...even treason!

I hope nobody buys her damn book.

Casey Anthony NBC Interview?

As of this writing, Casey Anthony has a little over two days remaining in jail. She is scheduled to be released on Sunday morning. It is believed that she will immediately board a plane. Not a bad idea - for her.

Meanwhile, Jose Baez (her attorney) spent a few days in New York City, this week, talking with the suits at NBC. Speculation is that Casey Anthony will be interviewed by the peacock people. There may or may not be cash paid for the interview. If there is a fee, the network would probably want "an exclusive."

Remember when journalism was journalism and the news makers were never paid? Now it is common for celebrities to give interviews in exchange for promoting a movie or a book. Casey Anthony writing a book? I have absolutely no doubt. The talk of an interview with NBC was for an event 6 to 9 months down the road. A book could easily be written within this time. But they must hurry! People who would pay good money for this book are likely to have a short attention span. Wait too long and they will confuse Casey Anthony with Jennifer Lopez' sister-in-law!
