Here's a sign of the times! Effective tomorrow, October 1, the town of Marfa, Texas will no longer have a Police Department! They figure they can save about $90,000 a year if they don't have to pay the Chief and his two officers. Of course, the Chief becomes the Marshall and he'll pull down $4,000 a year. The county sheriff department will pull up the rest of the slack.
The population of Marfa is 1,862. I know, I know, it's a small town and everybody knows everybody. Yeah...I know, but something seems wrong, here. I can't put my finger on it, but a town that can't afford to pay its cops? Something's wrong....
