Tiger Fires His Caddie

Williams & Woods

These two guys have been together for 12 years, 250 tournaments with 72 wins. It ended today. Tiger Woods fired his caddie Steve Williams, saying that it was "time for a change."

We should point out that Tiger hasn't been in a tournament for two months. He claims to have minor injuries to his left leg.

A caddie's income is based on his boss' income. There's no income for either when there's no golfing going on!

For the past three tournaments, Williams has been "carrying the clubs" for Adam Scott.

In the past, Williams has worked for Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd.

Meanwhile, Woods ranking has fallen to #20. I think what we are seeing is typical behavior of a "tiger" which is no longer hungry.

Tiger's New Girlfriend

Alyse Lahti Johnston (Facebook)

Alyse Lahti Johnston (Radar Online)

Tiger Woods has a new girlfriend. This is nice. According to Radar Online, Mr. Woods has been wooing Alyse Lahti Johnston. She's a 22 year old Northwood University student with just over 1100 Facebook Friends!

Her stepfather, Alistair Johnston, introduced her to the Tiger. He is a honcho at a major sports agency - the same one that represents Tiger. (It's a small world!)

Her biological father is former Cardinal pitcher Jeff Lahti.
Radar Online found a mug shot of Alyse, as she was arrested, last October for DUI.  The case was continued until January when she was found guilty of an improper lane change.  (Daddy must really be a big honcho).
Anyway, love is a beautiful thing and we at the blog hope that these two kids will be real happy if they decide to stay together

Tiger: Sidelined But Not Idle

Elin Woods

This item is more than a week old, but still, I think it's worth mentioning. Tiger Woods, perhaps the greatest golfer to ever hit a little ball into a little hole, is expecting child #2 with his wife, Elin. On the right is a picture of Elin. Tiger's a good looking guy, but I thought I'd beautify the blog by posting a pic of Elin. In the end, she's much better to look at.
Back to the family. Tiger's been sitting out the PGA season with an injury. This gives him more "family time" ergo (that's right, ergo) the impending arrival of a blessed event. They already have a daughter, Sam. Unlike many celebrity couples, the Woods were married in plenty of time for Sam's arrival. Also unlike many celebrity couples, the Woods have a chosen normal name for their little girl.
I was thinking that it'd be cool for him to pick a name like Lion or Giraffe or Rhino...but that's just me.

Kelly Learns A Lesson

Congratulations, Kelly Tilghman! You made it on to General Tom's Blog! Kelly who? Read on...

HONOLULU (AP) -- Golf Channel suspended anchor Kelly Tilghman for two weeks on Wednesday for saying last week that young players who wanted to challenge Tiger Woods should "lynch him in a back alley."

Tilghman was laughing during the exchange Friday with analyst Nick Faldo at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, and Woods' agent at IMG said he didn't think there was any ill intent.

Should we make a big deal out of this? You can answer this for yourself. Keep in mind that Miss Tilghman was praising Tiger's golfing skill and she was responding to Nick Faldo's suggestion that younger golfers may have to "gang up" on Woods to defeat him. To me, the important factor here is that Kelly meant no harm with her comment. Her words (in my mind) were not in the least bit serious. If the comment was not serious, should we react seriously?
The lesson, here, Miss Kelly is that there are people who are too busy listening to words when they should be listening to what you are saying. I just got off the phone with Don Imus. He agrees.
