I was watching Andy Rooney, last night, on 60 Minutes. Rooney was complaining about the high salaries of big name atheletes. What he didn't do is find blame for the situation. WE are to blame. WE, who pay $7 for a beer at the ball park. WE who pay the high ticket prices. WE who pay to watch games on TV. It wasn't always this way. I remember paying $.75 for a bleecher seat at Yankee Stadium to see Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, etc. play. EVERY home game was on (free) TV along with most of the away games. A game lasted about 2 hours. Oh, and everyone was making money!
So, don't blame the owners. If they did not have the money, they wouldn't be able to pay people like Randy Johnson $4,000 each time he throws a pitch! The money comes from the paying fans.
