Friday Foto - Nina Mascunana

Today's Friday Foto feature takes us to the west coast. She's a model and has studied to be a nurse. She's a smart cookie! That's refreshing since so many young women who look "this pretty" never had to use their minds, much. It is said that Nina is a traditional kind of girl and is of Spanish, Chinese and Filipino ancestry.

Friday Foto - Serinda Swan

Just in time for the new television season, I have a couple of pictures of Serinda Swan. She is (or was) on the new version of Hawaii Five-0. I worded this in an odd way since I don't watch the show.

If Serinda has much of a part on it,,,maybe I should check it out?

As usual, click an image to get a better view and have a great weekend!

Monday Foto ~ Sara Maldonado

This week, we start off with a (working) Mexican actress, Sara Maldonado. What do I know about her? Obviously, not enough ...let's see, she speaks English, has lived in Canada, has a sister and two brothers, is 30 years old, and is separated, no kids.

Monday Foto - Demi From Vancouver

Today's Monday Foto features young Demi from Vancouver. Demi may or may not be a model, as she possesses the proper equipment, but I couldn't find any "modeling" pictures of her. I also could not find a last name for Demi. Perhaps one of our viewers from "north of the border" can clue me in, with more information.

As for now, click the image and you'll get the necessary available information on Demi.

Pic Banned From HS Yearbook

There's an uproar at Durango High School in Durango, Colorado. It's over a "senior picture" which has been thrown out by the book's student editors.

Sydney Spies says that she and her family will fight to have the picture included. The school district is backing the editors' decision. The Spies are threatening legal action.

Here's my take on this.....
She's a pretty girl. When I was her age, I was a little rebellious, myself. If she's anything like me, at that age, she is probably trying to make a statement. Wrong place. Yes, you are free to dress as you wish, but not in school...and not on the job...well, most jobs. We have freedoms, but we must also follow the rules. Sydney was not banned from her yearbook. Her picture was. I suggest that she wear a turtle neck sweater in her next picture. She will have made her statement - for those of us who know her story.

Wednesday Foto - Sarah Nicola Randall

In honor of the fact that we have made it to Wednesday, we at the blog would like to celebrate with a very special Wednesday Foto. Her name is Sarah Nicola Randall. Sarah is from Wales and is a model. She is relatively new on the modeling scene.

Today's Wednesday Foto is a very attractive young lady who calls herself Nemo Valkyrja. Her real name may be Erica. She claims to be living in Japan with an interest in photography. Of course, this is the Internet and most of what you read is not true.  It's OK...we can take a joke!

Hello, Lesotho!

I see that this blog is now seen in the country of Lesotho! Do you know anything about the place?

Here's the scoup from Wikipedia: Kingdom of Lesotho, is a landlocked country and enclave, completely surrounded by its only neighboring country, the Republic of South Africa. It is just over 11,583 sq mi in size with a population of approximately 2,067,000. Its capital and largest city is Maseru. Lesotho is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The name Lesotho translates roughly into the land of the people who speak Sesotho.

About 40% of the population lives below the international poverty line of US $1.25 a day.

Winter Storm Warning Issued For .............Hawaii?

Photo from  www.woodtv.com
That's right, Hawaii. While the higher elevations often get a little snow, this is different.

This is a picture of a snowstorm in the high elevations of the Big Island of Hawaii. They report 6″ of snow with drifts a foot high! The snow and ice have closed the road to the summit area of Mauna Kea.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued for both snow and freezing rain. Temperatures on the summits dipped as low as 16 degrees with wind chill temperatures in the single figures.

She wanted to be a doctor, but had problems in passing the Italian medical school entry exams. She finished in fourth place in the 1996 Miss Italy pageant. After moving to London, she discovered the theater and became an actress.

Jersey Flags: Half Staff For Whitney

Today is Whitney Houston's Funeral. She will be remembered and her body will be buried in her native New Jersey.

Personally, I am sorry to hear of this loss. I am also sorry for the circumstances of her death and the years of substance dependence that preceded it.

New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, ordered that the American Flag, at NJ public buildings, be lowered to half staff.

Wrong, sir!

The same tribute was done for Frank Sinatra when he passed. Sinatra evaded military service during World War II! The tribute for Frank was wrong. I think it's wrong, today, for Houston.

Lowering the flag to half staff is reserved for heroes. Whitney was a gifted entertainer, not a hero. I feel for the surviving family members of our real heroes.

KFI's John & Ken Suspended

KFI's John and Ken
Those of you who know me, know that I work at a very small, very successful radio station. I mention this so you may realize that I may know, at least a little, of which I speak.

In Los Angeles, John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou, have the afternoon shift at talk station, KFI AM 640. This is big time radio! I am sure that they are very well paid and that they have a lot of competition for ratings.

The two were suspended for their comments on Whitney Houston. They called the late singer a "crack ho" and said she was "cracked out for 20 years."

The pair apologized and their station apologized. The two have been suspended for ten days but will return in plenty of time for the beginning of the "spring rating period."Is this what people in Los Angeles like to hear? The "line" between "comedy" and "gross disrespect" should be easy to define for these big timers....unless, of course, they are stupid. You see, stupid people say stupid things. If they are on the radio, they have stupid listeners and they have stupid sponsors. Management should also be held accountable, but they're probably stupid, too.

Like I say, I work in a small market. We don't have enough stupid listeners, here, to be successful with this kind of crap.

SI Puts Kate Upton Up On The Cover

Kate Upton - Click To Enlarge
February is a strange month. We start it with a groundhog predicting the weather, the football season ends, and the weather (in my part of the world) is cold and wet.

Thank God for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition! On the cover is Kate Upton. Kate is no stranger to Sports Illustrated nor to this blog. A year ago I featured her, click here. Kate also appeared in last year's SI.

You may notice that on my initial story, I mentioned that Kate is from Australia. Well, not quite. She was born in Michigan and raised in Melbourne...the one in Florida.

Sometimes my sources are more mixed up than I am.

Hef's Kid Busted For Beating On Girlfriend

Claire Sinclair
Domestic violence among the idle rich? Please don't try this at home...or anywhere else!

Marston Hefner, Hef's 21 year old son was arrested late last night for allegedly beating up his girlfriend. TMZ reports that the young Hefner was at home with his live-in girlfriend, 20 year old Claire Sinclair.

The report says that a Sinclair family member called 911 and that Ms. Sinclair had bruises on her body. TMZ also reports that she told police Hefner punched and kicked her and then blocked her from leaving

The two have been dating, on and off, since 2010.
Sinclair was named 2011 Playmate of the Year.

PETA's Latest

This is the latest from Peta. This commercial was scheduled to begin its run on Valentine's Day:

I thought about this for a short while and "Popeye the Sailor" came to mind. He was the cartoon character who would find himself in danger, eat a can of spinach and gain the strength to kick ass!

The difference?
With Popeye, we were kids and we were convinced to eat spinach.
With PETA, you go vegan so you can turn your premarital sex into a martial art.

Very cool...

Monday Foto

As we begin a brand new week, I would like to "set the stage" with a delightful young lady who is believed to be from Russia. I'm not sure. You see, I don't know her name, or what line of work she is in, or where she lives.

I can tell you that she looks great in whatever you might call what she is wearing.

Yeah. Click the image to get the full picture. If you know her name, leave a comment, and even if you don't know her name, have a great week!

Paint My House & Pay My Mortgage

Fresh Paint: The Hostetler home in Buena Park, CA
This is a good one. This should make you feel good. There's a Marketing Firm that calls itself Brainiacs From Mars. They are taking applications from regular people. If they accept your application, they will paint your house, in their own color scheme with their advertisement, and pay you up to $2,000 a month.

If you've ever been to the American mid west, Mail Pouch Chewing Tobacco used to do the same thing...with barns, not houses. They would paint your barn in exchange for ad space on your barn's roof. Actually, a pretty good idea, back in the day. Brainiac's not only pays for the paint job, the pay a monthly fee.

Visit them, on-line:  http://brainiacsfrommars.com/paintmyhouse.html

Gas Prices Expected To Go...................UP

Every year we hear the same talk about how gas prices are expected to rise, in time for Memorial Day. Why? Why are they expecting gas prices to climb to $4.95/gallon in Chicago in the next 90 days? Because of unrest in the middle east!

Who could have expected unrest in the mid east?

38 years ago, it was 1974. There was a worldwide gas shortage. I was stationed in Europe and driving was banned on Sundays, throughout the continent! The pictures, below, were taken in 1974 in the United States.  They show gas being sold "by appointment, only."  Also, we had long lines at the gas stations, often with limits of 10 gallons per customer.

I remember this vividly and I have a question. If all this happened 38 years ago, why in Hell's name have we done nothing about this? We are still buying crude from the middle east. Why? We've got oil here. We're standing over it!

In the past 38 years, we've had both Democrats and Republicans in the White House.  Each party has taken their turn of controlling Congress.   We have crude oil off shore, we have in in the ground.

DRILL, BABY...DRILL!

MLK Statue Fix Could Leave A Scar

Only in America! The recently unveiled statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. has a flaw and the US National Park Service says that the flaw WILL BE fixed!

Keep in mind that we spent $120 million (£76m). The problem? The quotation on the side of the statue is inaccurate! Could you believe this? We spent $120 million and nobody proof read the damn quote!

The existing quote has King saying, "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness." Critics of the inscription have included the poet Maya Angelou, who was quoted as saying the shortened phrase made King sound like an "arrogant twit".

These words are actually taken out of context as they were part of a longer quotation, spoken shortly before his death,  "Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter."

Executive architect Ed Jackson said the work would be permanently visible, with mismatched granite.

Yes, only in America.

SNL Tribute To Whitney Houston

Saturday Night Live aired live, just a few hours after the death of Whitney Houston was made public. The following is a brief tribute or more of an acknowledgement.

Some people approved, some didn't. Your thoughts?

Martin Suspended Over Tweets

Roland Martin is an on-air news analyst at CNN. Since I don't watch CNN, I don't know the guy.

Well, ole Rollie got himself in some hot water. He is "off the air" because of two tweets that he made during the Super Bowl.

I have the quote: "If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham's H & M underwear ad, smack the 'ish' out of him."

He also tweeted that a New England Patriot wearing pink "needs a visit from #teamwhipdatass".

On his website Martin apologized for his tweets saying that he was "truly sorry" to anyone who felt his tweets were homophobic or advocated violence.

CNN said that Mr Martin would not appear on air "for the time being". CNN added, "Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated."

So, if you think that this is a free country and that you have freedom of speech, you must remember that, yes you do, depending on who you are and who you piss off.

Jesse and Al, your thoughts?

Whitney Houston Dies

This was unexpected. Whitney Houston has died. Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown. She was 48 years old. These details will be presented soon enough.

 I was a fan.

 Whitney, rest in peace.
