Hall of Fame Catcher, Gary Carter died today. Carter was adored in New York during his playing days for the Mets.
Always a kid at heart, he was a key reason why the Mets won the World Series in 1986.Carter was an 11-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner. His bottom-of-the-10th single in Game 6 of the 1986 Series helped the Mets mount a charge against the Boston Red Sox and eventually beat them.
After his playing days, Carter stayed with baseball as a minor league and college coach and broadcaster.
Carter was diagnosed with brain cancer, last May. He was 57.
