They say that crime doesn't pay. Of course crime pays. If crime didn't pay, there wouldn't be any crime! So, this husband/wife team of shoplifters visits the Dr. Phil Show in November of 2008. They boasted about stealing more than $100,000 worth of stuff and selling it, on-line. Dr. Phil was supposed to help the couple's addiction. Well, it didn't work. The twosome was busted four months later (cops don't watch Dr. Phil) in March of 2009 and recently sentenced. He gets 27 months, she gets 366 days. Soft...very soft. They made well over 100 g's and didn't pay a dime in income tax? Crime pays.
The judge sized up Dr Phil by saying: “What a charlatan this man is,” she said. “What a terrible, terrible man.”
My take on this is that since the admission was made on TV, they could have kept the case within the TV jurisdiction - maybe Judge Judy should have tried the case!
