We all love a Cinderella story! In Columbus, Ohio, we discover a homeless man with a golden voice. Add a heaping helping of media hype and he gets job offers from the NBA, NFL...even Hollywood!
This story has everything! Well, almost. Don't take my word for it, but ask someone in the broadcasting biz, or a speech therapist, or simply watch network TV and listen to the voice over artists! Williams' voice work is so-so, at best. The man has a warm, deep voice...and a lisp.
As far as the homelessness, I can tell you first hand that the radio business comes with several different types of temptations. Maybe I was lucky or something...Ted was not... until now!
I wish Ted Williams the best. He and the children he fathered need it.
