This thing had been decorating the picturesque landscape of Turkey, near the Armenian border, in Kars since 2006. It is supposed to represent friendship and brotherhood between the Turkish and Armenian people.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogen says the statue is a "monstrosity" and is "weird" and that it is located too near to an 11th century Islamic shrine.
It will take 10 days to dismantle the 100' statue. There's no word on how the Armenians feel about this. (Can there be too many statues representing international friendship?)
If this were the USA, you would expect the statue to appear on E-Bay very soon.
