It was first designed to honor the fallen soldiers of the American Civil War. There have, of course, been wars since, giving us more and more to remember. The picture is of the 172.5 acre American Cemetery and Memorial which is situated on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach and the English Channel in Colleville-sur Mer, France.
I think it might be a good idea for each of us to take a moment, this weekend, to think about the brave people who sacrificed their young lives for our freedom.
