Chicago Snow Job


A few hours to the north of me, Chicago has been getting hammered with a blizzard of biblical proportions. That may not be right...was there ever a blizzard in the Bible?

Our friends at WMAQ, NBC 5 Chicago have some information on the blizzard. As of 8AM CST:

9p.m.: Reported time when the storm was at its worst

24: Inches that some parts of Chicago could see before the storm ends

17.3: Inches at O'Hare

17: Inches at Midway

40: Miles per hour winds to expect

1: CTA line suspended; no lines closed

5: Metra lines closed

60: Miles closed on I-80

274: Plows currently stationed on main street routes, plus garbage trucks with plows

1,800: Flights canceled at O'Hare

12: Years since Chicago closed public schools

500: National Guard Troops activated

7: Buildings reportedly damaged, including Wrigley Field

300: ComEd crews working this morning to fix down lines

174,000: Homes that lost power last night during the storm

103,000: Homes were power outages that have been restored, as of this morning.

76,000: Homes still without of power, as of this morning; 50,000 of the homes are in the city.

98: Street lights reported out

22: Poles reported down

14: Wires reported down

1: Fatality. No other serious injuries were reported.
