New York Prohibits Puffing In The Park

Smoking is bad for you. Yeah, we get it.

Now, you can add another place where taking a puff is prohibited.

By a vote of 36-12, the New York City Council decided to ban smoking in every one of NYC's 1,700 parks and on the 14 miles of NYC beaches.

As a smoker, I am aware of second hand smoke and the problems which it can cause.

This is about something more important than smoking. It is about the trendy weirdos who take special delight in limiting or eliminating the rights and freedoms of others.

I've always been intrigued by people who feel the need to be bossy. Power, like nicotine, is a drug. The former is far more damaging.

Mayor Bloomberg and his band of trendy weirdos may want to concentrate their efforts on high taxes, crime, filth, lousey schools, etc. These are the reasons why decent tax paying people are leaving NYC...not second hand smoke.
