In the middle of a winter storm warning, Punxsutawney Phil, the world's most famous groundhog, came out of his hole, this morning, and did not see his shadow!
According to ancient lore, this means that we in the USA will see an early spring. Had Phil seen his shadow, we would be told to expect 6 more weeks of winter.
I like to mention this every year. The Groundhog's Day celebration may seem trite, however, in the Punxsutawney, PA area, it's a major industry. You can see what I mean by visiting Phil's website, http://www.groundhog.org/.
