Bad Moon On The Rise

The Moon

They call it the "Super Moon." At 3 PM today, the moon was the closest to Earth than it has been in the past 19 years. This makes tonight's moon appear 8% larger and much brighter.

By the numbers, normally the moon is between 226,178 and 252,276 miles from us. (Where else can you get this stuff?)

This afternoon, the moon was 221,565 miles away...that's almost 5,000 miles closer than its normal closest point

Traditionally, the Super Moon has been considered a bad omen. Astronomers disagree...unless you are a  dictator in Libya...
