Radio news anchor Charles McCord announced his retirement, today, on the "Imus In The Morning" show. McCord and Imus have been paired, on and off, since the early '70's.
I listen to them every morning. Charles is the most polished guy working in radio (and probably TV) today. On "Imus," Charles is the "brains" of the show. He's been called "Google...before we had Google." What I like most is his ability to smoothly and consistently pronounce the most difficult of names and words.
Charles also wrote many of the comedy bits for the Imus Show and is a fine pianist. Oddly, none of his biographies mention any formal training in journalism.
Class guy! Charles, we will miss you in your various tweed sport jackets, blue jeans and incredibly white sneakers. Enjoy your retirement as we have enjoyed your company for all these many years!
