Mets' ace reliever, Francisco Rodriguez, was greeted with a chorus of Bronx Cheers as he entered the game today at Citi Field. It was his first appearance after having been suspended for two games. The suspension resulted when he was arrested for beating the crap out of a man who happens to be the father of his girlfriend. He's also the grandfather of Rodriguez' one year old twins. Rodriguez will get to tell his story in court in September. The suspension cost Rodriguez $125,000. Sounds like a lot of money, but it's not - for him. He is paid $37 million + for three seasons. For a real person in the real world who makes $50,000, this would equate to $500.
Rodriguez has had a history of, uh, well, problems working with others. Removing the sugar coating, the kid is a punk, no, not a punk, (I apologize to all punks, everywhere) he's a thug and clearly does not deserve to wear a major league baseball uniform. Apparently, having a 4 and 2 record, 25 saves and an ERA of 2.24 (so far this season) is a suitable substitute for being a civil human. Thugs like this are bad for the game.
The Mets fans "got it right!"
