Town Bans Pinball!

Beacon, New York must be a wonderful place to live! Apparently, life in Beacon is utopia except for one little problem! Law enforcement has directed its attention to the dire danger of PINBALL! There's a pinball arcade/museum, there, that has been shut down!

I don't remember this, but pinball machines were outlawed in many large cities from the early 1940s until the mid 70's. There is still a law on the books in Beacon which prohibits the dreaded pinball. It was believed that the industry was controlled by organized crime. It was also believed that pinball attracts the "wrong element" and that it was a waste of time and money for impressionable youth.

In Beacon, the fine is $1,000 a day or prison! I'll tell you what pinball is. Pinball is entertainment. We spent pocket change on pinball...as opposed to hundreds of dollars on those hand held things.

To the members of the Beacon City Council, I say, "Tilt, Game Over."
