Yes, it's only a 3.8% increase on the on-day, one park ticket to Disney World. Yes, Disney World is unlike any place on Earth. Yes, when you're on vacation, money is less of a priority than it normally is..
The one day, one park, adult price is now $82. Prices for multiday-ticket packages, which the resort sells in far greater volume than single-day tickets, also are increasing. It will now cost an extra $2, or $54, to get a "park hopper" pass, which allows a buyer of a regular ticket to get into multiple theme parks at Disney World in one day.
Consider that in 2008, 45 million people visited the four Disney properties in the Orlando, Florida area and you see that a 3.8% increase is a bunch of money. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for business and industry - unless it upsets the delicate balance with the weight of a crappy economy.
Bottom line, Mickey, price increase or not, I won't be seeing you this year...property taxes just went up.
