Aircraft Black Box Inventor Dies

Since the typical aircraft black box is orange in color, I thought that the guy who invented it might be named "Black." Wrong. David Warren invented the device in the 1950s and he died this week, in his native Australia at the age of 85. He was inspired to develop the device, years after his father was killed in a plane crash.
The color orange is used so it can be located a little easier than if it were black. We should really call it an "Orange Box." Just like in baseball, the "foul pole" should really be called the "fair pole!" If a batted ball hits the pole, it's a fair ball and a home run!
There is SO much work to be done!
