U.S. Flag Removal In California

Along Interstate 680 on the Sunol Grade in Alameda County, California, there is, or was, a 35 foot American flag painted on a slab. In the picture, you see 27 year old Eric Noda painting the flag. He was one of three men who created the project within two weeks of the 9/11 attacks in NYC and DC. (Remember them?) Well, after more than 8 1/2 years, the California Department of Transportation decides that the flag is graffiti and has to go. This week, they painted over it...just in time for our nation's birthday! Mind you, it's been sitting there for more than 8 years. Motorists honk as they pass by! Governor sees that the locals are pissed, so he apologizes, saying that he knows nothing (about the flag's removal, of course.)

I predict the return of the flag - soon. And maybe the California Department of Transportation can find someone to trim the high grass around the slab.

Just a thought...
