Lou Piniella, 66 year old manager of the Chicago Cubs says that this will be his final season as the team's skipper. Lou says he wants to spend more time with his family. This would be the safe thing to say. Like him or hate him, he's just the team manager. He's been around baseball long enough to know how to win. He's one of the most passionate managers in baseball. I like the guy. It's sad that he will be remembered, in Chicago, as just another manager who was not able to win a pennant for the Cubbies.
The real problem is that his babysitting skills are lacking. Babysitting may not be the correct word for being in charge of young millionaire jocks.
You have to wonder what kind of manager he would have been in the 1950's?
He will get offers from other clubs...
